How to Celebrate Life's Special Occasions With Fitness

Because there’s no better way to commemorate an I.R.L. milestone.

Sometimes a Peloton class is more than just a workout. Sometimes, it can be a downright party. That’s why so many of our Members choose to get their sweat on to celebrate class milestones, birthdays, anniversaries, fitness achievements and so much more. Between the endorphin boost and the high fives flying on the Leaderboard, there’s nothing better to make you feel truly proud of your accomplishments.

Of course, we all know that a celebration is way more fun when you invite your friends to join you (and yes, that includes Peloton buddies you haven’t actually met in person yet!). That’s why Members often create a special Tag for the occasion (think #ErikaTurns50 or #JimHits1000). Or, if you’re looking to meet some new people with similar interests, you can join one of the popular Tags already in existence, such as #GoBlue or #PelotonNewbies. Then, you can schedule a Session with your friends and get the festivities started.

Looking for some more inspiration? Here’s how three Peloton Members celebrated their special moments.

Turning the Big 5-0 With a Little Help From the JSS Tribe

Member Jennifer H., of Webster, New York, couldn’t think of a way she’d rather spend her 50th birthday than riding live with Jenn Sherman on a My Mixtape Ride. An avid #JSSTribe Member, Jennifer received so many birthday high fives from the group that day that her son had to help her keep up.

“I was so excited for this particular wedding-themed Mixtape Ride, and Jenn did not disappoint,” Jennifer says. “It truly felt like being at a party on the Bike for my special day!”

The party continued off the Bike that night with close family and friends coming together to enjoy live music, cake and, of course, plenty of Peloton-themed gifts for Jennifer.

A Surprise Party on the Bike

Member Emily A. from Chicago had planned to take a Denis Morton class for her 400th ride and 42nd birthday—but what she didn’t know was that her husband Dave was out to make it extra special. Balloons were waiting for her by the Bike, and Dave and her son cheered her on the whole way. Plus, Dave had posted on the Official Peloton Member Page on Facebook, asking others to give a little extra love to Emily on the Leaderboard on her special day.

"I usually only give a few high fives so it was amazing to see so many people reach out on the Bike and on the Facebook page," Emily says. "It was really special."

Now on her way to 1,000 rides, Emily has taken the time to celebrate many more milestones with colleagues.

“We have a crew at work, about 20 of us, and we all put meetings on the calendars when there are special rides so we can all hop on our Bikes together,” she says.

She also rides with friends all over the country and even uses the video chat function with one friend—even if they’re both dripping in sweat.

Celebrating a Major Milestone

Liz R., from Flagstaff, Arizona, sometimes found it challenging to prioritize her well-being. “I’ve had so many transitions in my life: becoming a mom, going through the pandemic, working from home,” she says. “I lost track of self-care.”

That all changed when she started riding the Peloton Bike. Finally, she’d found a way to take time for herself. So on her 500th ride (and her 42nd birthday), she hopped on the Bike to “celebrate the times I’ve said yes to myself, my body and my health.”

Her siblings joined on their Bikes and a few friends joined from the Peloton App. Then, Liz listened in amazement as Cody Rigsby gave her a shoutout. “I almost fell off the Bike!” she says.

The cherry on top? Liz loves being able to go back and take that ride on-demand to relive that special moment over again.
