One of the best perks of getting a Peloton Bike, Bike+ or Tread is that staying fit all year round suddenly becomes much easier. We asked our community to explain why the Bike, Tread and Peloton App help them meet their exercise goals in any season.

You can exercise no matter what it’s like outside.

“My outdoor workouts are highly dependent on the weather and if the sun is out or not,” says Mariza B., a Peloton Bike owner from Telluride, Colorado, where winter temperatures regularly dip below 10 degrees Fahrenheit at dawn. Mariza is an early riser and likes to work out first thing, but finds during the winter that it’s too dark to go outside at 6:30 AM. “I can’t get a sunny workout in until after 8:30 AM, which is not always conducive to my work schedule.”

Not to mention that running outside is trickier during that time of year, even when the sun is out. “In the winter, running outside is a little harder since the trails that I typically run can get icy and snowy, so I also have to wait until the trails are hard-packed,” Mariza adds. She often turns to her Peloton Bike instead.

You can stick to your fitness schedule all year round.

Pilates instructor Tracy H. received her Bike in early 2016 and was thrilled to find that it freed her from a strict studio schedule.

“I can’t always squeeze cardio into typical business hours, considering that I have a busy life with my clients and especially with my children,” she says. “While I live in Manhattan Beach, California, where we can be outdoors year-round, getting a great workout on my schedule isn’t always achievable. I ride whenever I am not teaching Pilates or chasing my two boys around.”

There are lots of options for the times when you’re injured or sick.

If you’re injured, ill or going through rehab after surgery, having a Peloton can make a huge difference to your recovery.

That’s what Ange R., from Upper Saddle River, New Jersey, discovered after undergoing a hysterectomy this July. She’s been an avid rider since 2015, but turned to the Peloton App post-surgery.

“The Peloton outdoor classes helped me get moving,” she says.

She opted for sleep meditations in the hospital, and then kicked it up a notch once she got home. “Thankfully surgery was in the summer, so I started off using the Peloton App to do slow mileage outside at a flat park near me pretty much every day for six weeks,” she says. “I could only do very slow walks to start about five days post-surgery, then managed to slowly jog after about three weeks, on and off. I was very careful not to overdo it.”

All of your training needs are covered.

The Peloton Bike and App also helped Member Chris G., who has been riding since 2015, train over the winter for the Lake Placid Ironman.

He rode his road bike in foul weather near his home in Washington, D.C., when he needed to keep his bike-handling skills fresh. But his Peloton came in handy “for ‘time in the saddle’ workouts and recovery,” he says. He also used the app for running classes, both outdoors and on a treadmill. (After the Ironman, he ended up buying a Tread too.)

Always up for a challenge, Chris is still finding the Bike useful year-round even though his Ironman training is over.

“I started all this with Peloton,” he says. “And I have used Peloton more than riding outside since Ironman. Power Zone training preps me for incredibly challenging Gran Fondos around the country.”
