I am super excited to announce that I’ve created a new series of Climb Rides for the Peloton community. There’s nothing more satisfying than leaving a hill in your dust. Climbing is the bread and butter of building both strength and endurance on the bike, but there is definitely an art and skill behind being an efficient climber. I am thrilled to be bringing this series to the platform and look forward to guiding our riders to becoming stronger and more confident climbers. The progressive nature of the fitness programming and the music of these rides will help you unleash a new level of power and build a skill, which you will be able to transfer to a large percentage of other rides across the platform. It’s an ascending series and one which is suitable for all fitness levels. Starting with a 10-minute climb, we’ll be building all the way up to 60 minutes!
So what is a climb ride? It’s a class that creates the sensation of climbing uphill by pushing efficient cadences against higher resistances. One of the reasons I’m so excited to teach this series is that it will give me a chance to meet so many of you–because climb rides allow riders of all abilities to push themselves as much as they like. This ride is truly for all levels of fitness. Climbs are incorporated into almost every ride we offer and it’s important that we bring isolated focus to all parts of our workouts to allow our Members to grow and develop as athletes. Incorporating this training into your ride schedule regularly will get your body stronger and yield overall higher outputs and sustain longer, powerful efforts across all ride types. I’m here to bring the best athlete out of you and these rides are going to be a good help in this process.
This is why they’re so effective:
We offer 10, 15, 20, 30, 45 and 60-minute Climb rides – all are an amazingly efficient use of time. Similar to our HIIT & Tabata rides, these classes will be intense but, with a more progressive and sustained nature, expect to be pushing some serious numbers on the leaderboard. The varying class lengths will allow you to progressively build your confidence with these climbs and provide you with an opportunity to set yourself regular challenges.
Regular use of these classes will improve your muscular endurance to allow you to withstand the sustained wattage output long climbs demand, boost your lactate threshold so you can maintain harder efforts without blowing up, and build your aerobic engine so you can keep your cadence relatively high to avoid frying your muscle fibers with undue stress. Easy right?
Given the right instructor and the right set of tunes, you’ll push yourself harder than you realized you were capable of. Both physically and mentally you will see yourself building the confidence to build resistance, overall power and endurance strength which can be easily transferred to all other ride types on the Peloton platform.
They say there are many ways up a mountain, which is a good philosophy for crushing climbs on your Bike as well as in life. You can sit, you can stand, you can spin, you can jam – it all depends on the grade and length of the climb. And because no hill is exactly the same, the best hill-training workout conditions your body to be ready for whatever the workout throws your way. These classes will allow you to find your most efficient climbing technique and give you the opportunity to work on both your strengths and weaknesses.
