As part of Peloton’s Mission & Values project, we talked with home rider Wendy Dugan on how the Peloton Community supports and inspires her.
How were you first introduced to Peloton?
The first time I saw Peloton was through an ad on Facebook. As with many advertised products, I was skeptical and I feared buying something inadequate until a colleague stopped by my office and she looked great! She had mentioned that the Peloton bike had helped her reach her fitness goals just after a month – that hooked me!
What’s your favorite part of the workout?
My favorite part of the ride is the start and the finish! That feeling of releasing the stress of the day and the happiness of physical activity is like no other.
Can you describe how the class experience makes you feel?
It makes me feel complete and gives me a sense of accomplishment. As a businesswoman, there is little time for “me time.” Peloton helps me concentrate on myself for 45-60 minutes a day.
Who’s your favorite instructor and why?
I love all the instructors for different reasons and adding DJ John Michael to the ride adds fun to any workout!
Cody is probably my go-to guy for releasing the stress from the work day. He has this way of getting into my mind and soul, almost like he knows what’s going on in my brain. He’s like that encouraging best friend that always brings out the best in me.
Alex is Alex! Chiseled out of stone, taken from Mount Olympus. The gods have blessed Alex with an engine that doesn’t stop. It’s so motivating when he looks into the camera and says, “we started together, we finish together;” he pushes me the hardest!
Jenn, with her rock rides! They always make me feel like I’m hanging with my sister! Steven and Matt’s zone training constantly has me questioning my body’s capabilities and, finally, Robin and Jess are both Peloton women who kick ass!
As we celebrate Pride month, what does #rideproud mean to you?
#RideProud means just that: Ride proud! Pick that chin up; you’re loved for being you! It represents the celebration of our diversity. Watching companies like Peloton step up and lead makes me proud to be part of something so amazing.
What’s your favorite part of the Peloton community?
My favorite part is knowing I’m part of the foundation of a huge empire that has yet to break the surface. Twenty years from now, companies will use Peloton as an example of bringing all walks of life together and allowing their individuality to shine.
How would you describe the inclusivity of the Peloton community?
I have yet to see an organization bring together such a diverse group of people and allow them to shine in their own light! Peloton reaches out to all walks of life. It doesn’t matter what we look like, who we love, where we work, Peloton just brings us all together!
