If you’ve been shopping around for your first Peloton purchase or trying to decide if you should invest in the Bike+, you’ve likely spent a good amount of time doing some online research. I say this as someone currently doing just that: As a longtime Bike owner, my husband and I have been toying with the idea of getting a Bike+. With a running list of questions and not a lot of time to spend clicking around online, I booked a virtual appointment to get first-hand help from a Peloton staff member. Thinking about doing the same? Here’s how to do it and what to expect from your virtual appointment.

How to Start

Go to the Peloton homepage, and click the location icon next to the profile logo (aka, that little person) in the top right hand corner. From there, you’ll click on “Schedule a Virtual Appointment.”

Know the Secret Password

Kidding! There’s no top-secret code, but knowing how to speak to the Peloton bot will help you get what you want. Once you click to schedule an appointment, you’ll be asked a series of questions in a chat box, like what you’re interested in looking at and when you want your appointment to be. If you’re impatient like I am and select “Now,” and the bot will connect you with a showroom. Depending on what time of day you’re doing this, the bot may send you a prompt to schedule a visit or to book a test class. If it does this, you have to reply, “Can I schedule a virtual appointment?” Other times you may be connected straight to a Peloton employee who will ask for your email to send you a Zoom link to join your virtual appointment.

Take the Tour

Once you get that Zoom link in your inbox, just click it to connect to your virtual showroom appointment. And here’s my absolute favorite part: All you need is your computer or phone audio. You’ll be able to see the employee and showroom, but they won’t see you … which means you can do the tour in your PJs on the couch with no shame.

Another perk is that you have more flexibility when it comes to timing. I tried it at 9 PM EST on a Thursday and was connected to a showroom open in Pasadena, California. With little kids at home and remote work happening all under one roof, it was nice to be able to schedule the appointment for when it was actually quiet in my house.

As for the tour itself, it’s as interactive as you want it to be. The Peloton employee I spoke with got on the Bike+ and showed me all the features, then hopped off and compared it to the Bike. Seeing them side-by-side was extremely helpful, and because of that, most of my questions were answered within five minutes of the appointment. After the call, the employee sent me her email with a quick recap of what we discussed and her contact info for when I was ready to go ahead with my purchase.

While this is certainly the year of Zoom fatigue, having the ability to make a virtual appointment is something I’d do even without COVID. Everyday life can make it tough to get out of the house to make it to a showroom. This makes virtual appointments the next best thing to physically being there and a way to get your questions answered quickly and directly.
